What is Chinese herbal medicine?
Chinese herbal medicine like acupuncture has been around for approximately 5000 years. Some of the herbal formulas are as old as this and some of the formulas have been developed in more recent years. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbal medicine have been used together for centuries and are considered to compliment and support the effectiveness of each other.
We currently sell a range of over 300 different Chinese herbal formulas, each relating to a very specific pattern of diagnosis.

Our practitioners only use patent formulas in pill form, from the reputable company Sunherbal. Sunherbal is an Australian owned and managed company and manufacture the following brands.

Chinese herbal medicine is much like a medication and could interact with other medications. Sunherbal provides all practitioners with reference books outlining possible drug interactions with each formula as well maintaining a technical support line to ensure your practitioner can cross check your medication. You will have to list all your current medications during your first appointment which will be added to your file, however if your medication changes during the course of your treatments it is imperative that you mention this to your practitioner.
Like all medications, Chinese herbal medicine may not be suitable for everyone. There is always a chance of side effects and adverse reactions. Always read the label and follow directions of use.

All herbs and products sold in TLC Acupuncture Clinic have been approved by the TGA (Therapautic Good Administration). This insures all imported products meet the Australian safety Standard in both herbal content and quality control.
Sometimes products are bought into Australia and sold without going through the proper chain for TGA approval (Therapeutic Good Administration). Rest Assured we do not import our own products and everything we purchase to use in the clinic comes from regulated Australian suppliers.
